Let me set the day...started out with a 7 mile walk on our day of "thanks". LoLa, RuthE and I took in our hood.
After the walk I prepped the house and worked on the final touches of an apple pie and sweet potato souffle. Before I left I gave LoLa her own Thanksgiving dinner a bone from the local butcher. She was in true doggie heaven. I went out for a couple hours to visit a dear family (the Marston's - Karen, Rob and Brian), we watched a little football (Lions vs. Bears) and chatted about family traditions.
I headed home around 3pm; I had about an hour before my dinner with friends. When I came home I was victim to
a pie crime scene. My dog LoLa had gotten to the ‘4 inch deep apple pie. There
was a small scrape of apples near the oven but the almost empty pie pan was
near her Thanksgiving butcher bone. I was lived and very naive to think she
would never get into a pie on the counter. She was sitting up on the sofa just
thumping away as I was loudly speaking to the air. I couldn’t punish her to her
crate or beat the thanksgiving remains out of her belly. I sent her outside to
the courtyard. She was starting to get the hint that I wasn’t happy. It was humorous
and upsetting all at once I let her back in and she hunkered down in her crate
while I was on the ground cleaning the apple juices and small remains off the
rug and floor. I was just flabbergasted.
My
neighbor/her aunt (RuthE) just laughed as I retold the story prior to us leaving for
our dinner. Obviously I was coming without my promised dish. I had to take few
photos of the pie crime scene.
WHO KNEW THAT DOGS LOVED APPLE PIE?????
The
dinner crowd loved the story and I’m certain it will be one that will stand out
for a while.
After the dinner we went to a movie, “Wreck it Ralph” decent and a
good one for a family or taking the nieces/nephews out.
