Another place I can mark off as "seen it". This past weekend I took a chance a headed south (Columbus, GA) to visit my sister, bro-in-law & the CADman. Let me just start with my attempt to depart early on Friday...first I say CURSE DELTA!!! It pains me to say that being a loyal customer for over a decade but they failed me on Friday. Let me just sum it up; it goes a little something like this...
UP at 4:30AM
At the terminal @ 5:00AM
Waited in line til 6:00AM
Missed the early flight out.
No "stand-by" option, must pay $50
Paid $50 for an 8:00AM flight - boarded, delayed til 10:00AM - cancelled @ 10:05AM
Unloaded (FULL) plane, rebooked for a flight to DETROIT on NWA @ 11:06AM - ran to another terminal got a stand-by ticket.
Given the tight timeline they flagged my ticket and sent me to the full body scan security area. Search every part of my baggage and my wardrobe.
Rush to the gate w/10 mins handed my ticket, counter agent said my stand-by ticket was no good - DELTA didn't release my ticket.
Missed flight.
Walked back to terminal 2.
Call DELTA - spoke loudly & insisted help
Offered a flight @ 4:00PM - not good enough
Rebooked on a new flight - departed at 12:55PM (Orginal flight)
Arrived in GA @ 2:53PM
Moral of the story - take what you got & don't try for better...in the world of travel.
