This note was posted on our church - Ward (congregation) listserv. There is an upcoming conference for "Single" members of our congregation and there apparently needs to be additional emphasis on this topic. Talk about deer in headlights…
“*Message 1—Clarification on Divorces:* A ward member brought this matter to my attention this morning regarding divorces. Divorces need to be completed before attending and participating in Potomac Ward activities and events. This is following church guidelines and common sense.”
This note makes me reconsider attending the conference. I should mention it is $80 to attend and you get 2 1/2 days of "FUN", new "opportunities" to meet people, a boat cruise (I refer to as the water trap), two meals (BBQ and box lunch) and hours of realization I am stuck in a slump of no- ways or hows.
Thoughts?

If it's not a good time, it's a good story. Go and chalk it up to a "life experience." Don't forget to take pictures and notes to share with us on the West Coast.
The notice wouldn't make me reconsider. The $80 dollars might for 2 days. :) That notice is common at these events. You never know who might be there.
I'm going to a mid-singles conference out here in a couple of weeks, although I'm not going to the entire thing-aka formal dances-really? I'm not in YW anymore. Anyway it'll be an experience. We'll have to compare notes.
And yeah-if the divorce isn't final they need to stay away-that's technically cheating. And creepy.
