Well it has been snowing for over 24 hours and I finally got so tired of the LMN, TLC, We, and AMC shows that I bundled up and took a walk. It was like a little snow heaven - I would have to take a guess at how much...currently (4PM EDT) I am saying 28 inches and counting. But they are saying that it is suppose to end around 6PM. Dozens of people are out and about playing in the snow as it falls. I was kind of jealous of those who had someone to play with...here nor there. It was just a white blanket, making everything simple and quite. I cruised the streets listening to a melody of music that ended up on Dave Matthews Band. Lucky to have an old snowboarding jacket I stayed dry.
The Capitol was a buzz of puffy coats, snow saucers, sleds, and cross country skies. Who knew that you would see not just millions of people walking to our nations capitol but skiing and sledding down it's hillside.
At the base of the Capitol, I started to make my way to the mall where there where knee high deep paths crossing and zig-zagging, along with snow angels that at one time were slowing being covered by the continuous snow fall. I managed to see a snow fight along my walk, I toyed with the idea of participating but enjoyed photographing it instead. One of the teams had a elastic launcher...it belted one girl in the face. It was pretty fun, she took it very well and tagged another girl.
Turning another corner I saw a young women sculpting a man on a bench. She was making much detail in his belly and arm the draped over the back of the bench. It was nice to watch in silence person work. Making my way back up the hill I was extremely content and marveled at the beauty of this white, fluffy, foam like snow.
I have pictures and will upload them soon. Tomorrow church has been cancelled, so I will take a nice long walk and venture to see more of this SNOWtorious land.
