Well this weekend the National Portrait Gallery had an all day celebration for the King of Rock - ELVIS! Well I was very curious to see who would come out (costume contest) and what art exhibits were on display. Did I mention the day was being closed out with a showing of Viva Las Vegas (my mom's first date with Darrel - she loves to tell us this story every time it was mentioned or aired)!

Now of course photography could not be permitted but vision a handful of older gentleman sporting Elvis gear during his Vegas show era and one Jailhouse Rock era. Let's just say they thought very highly (packing) of the King. The winner was a little boy dressed up in a white jumper.

The movie on the big screen was great and Ann Margret was a foxy lady. How can you not love a movie where the main character, race car driver, Lucky falls for a spunky girl, Rusty and of course they under up together. Mind you it takes several dance 60 swinger like songs.
Anyway Happy Birthday to the original KING of Rock n' Roll - Elvis!
PS. My Aunt Pat is a true obsessive fan and to complete my trip I managed to purchase an 8 1/2 x 11 postcard of him...Auntie - Mr.Postman will be delivering it very soon.
