injection

Tomorrow, my employer is providing flu shots for the low cost of $28. Now it is of course optional but, with the scare of H1N1/Swine/Bird...you name it flu. I have been admit that I have the immune system to fight this hoax off. But with lots of office chatter today I am now considering getting it and saying that I am weak enough to possibly get sick. So I come to you my two readers and ask what should I do - get the shot or not. Footnote - I cannot recall the last time I got a flu shot.

Can you recall the last time you had the flu? I got a flu shot last year, and came down with the worst case of the flu I've had in a long time. It was horrid. But...so many people swear by them. I say go for it. What do you really have to lose?

1. I get the flu shot every year.
2. I do not get the flu every year.
3. I work with small children who carry a bajillion germs.
4. I have diabetes, which means if I get sick my life goes to hell in a handbasket.

If you are a very healthy person and tend to recover from any and all ailments quickly, you may be okay with no vaccine. If you're around a lot of germ carriers and have a difficult time recovering from serious illness, you might want to consider it.

PS: The word verification is shlit. That just sounds WRONG! :-)

Seasonal flu shots are newly created every year and swine flu shots were created in the same manner. Swine flu is actually just a derivative of influenza A so it's not really anything completely different than what's been out there. Basically the shot is just as safe as a seasonal flu shot and is created the exact same way with the same amount of testing. I'd get it-in fact, I did get it. If you have any complicating factors and you get swine flu that's when it hits harder. And really, it wasn't a big deal at all.

Don't get it. You will be fine. Wash your hands use Lysol in your home weekly and take hand sanitizer with you when you ride the train. Use it before and after you touch any part of it. SO far it has worked for us. Either way you will do what is best.
