Carrie w/WKRP in Cincinnati...

Thursday night I got the news from work that I was to fly out the next morning to Cincinnati to help out on a build taking place on Saturday. There was potential for the build to go sour with the community. Well I went home and packed my bags and took my heavy orange coat. I got up extra early (5'ish) dressed and drove to the airport. I arrived to a chilly Cincinnati...very cold (high 35) and overcast with light rain. Two of my co-workers picked me up and we headed to the site. It was semi-sunny and being torn up by city workers. The ground was so soft that the tractor tracks were digging up the grass. Looking over were the playground was to be build was this GINORMOUS mud pit. I look on with worry and fear that we were going to be hated by all volunteers given the condition of the site. After spending several hours there we decided we needed to go purchase boots given how bad the site was. Wal-Mart...$17.98...best investment ever. You will see in my pictures what a MUDDY mess it was. But the highlight was working side by side with Madieu Williams (Cincinnati Bangles and Minnesota Vikings) and his friends - quiet charming and super friendly...love the hugs. He is definitely going to be part of my fantasy football team.

After the Build was done we drove our muddy selves back to the hotel, showered and cleaned up. We grabbed a bite to eat and then I just crashed back at the hotel. Not much of a night life in Cincinnati. The next morning prior to my plane ride I was going to see what local sites I could hit but everything was directed toward Louisville, KY...100 miles away. Oh well, I did what I came to do.

Pictures totally do your story justice! You should have rolled around in it, there's always next time.

Looks like fun -- can't remember the last time I experienced mud like that -- probably the mission.

Love the muddy pictures. I also like the orange coat! Looks like it was fun and hard work put together.
