a small taste of fall

This weekend Tabitha, Cad-Man and I wanted to experience a little fall; initially I was looking for an apple farm but we got a recommendation to take the little man to Centerville, Va - where we would experience Cox Family Farm. Now the website gives warming for families to come early and stake out your picnic table and large groups are welcomed. Now I had much reservation about this after reading this on the website...vision large groups of small children and strung out parents. Well we determined to go early and take our chances. We got there and the parking was tame; given under the directions of young male adolescence wearing rubber cones on their heads. Ahhhh...youth of today. After paying our $13 each we went straight for a map and assets our game plan - hit the petting area and hay ride first. Well we got side tracked with very large and long slides -
I used my nephew as the excuse but really wanted to go down them - who doesn't love a potato sack ride down a slide? Now the hay ride - talk about bizarre from aliens dancing the cabbage patch to large poster paintings of former Presidents and Care bears the ride had it all.
What we thought would be 2 minutes was close to 10-15 minutes - excellent surprise. Cad-Man was in a coma eye over load. The day ended on a lovely picking of pumpkins - one free pick for each paying customer. We walked away with two very cute ones.
