The Ladies before we set sail to "THE ROCK"...Wendy was just making it clear and reminding me that I was going to have a good time. Sharon (aka Switzerland) along for the ride. Shaine is trying to take in every preservation moment...smell the history...smell IT!
Proof we were there taking in the scenic views and debriefing on whether or not we would feel bad if we left one of us there...who would the lucky one be???? Now I had been there a couple other times so my desire to attend was very low but Shaine being our history buff we obliged. She even signed us up of the audio tour, we walk around with headsets on listening to former guards and inmates give personal stories about the ROCK. I hate to admit that I actually enjoyed the sour men talk about the grim place.
Fisherman's Wharf...some of the friends we made on the trip...aren't they just precious.
If you don't take a trolley ride in this town you just aren't making the full experience. I had the crazy of idea of hanging off the front while the girls stayed warmed. We started out at the Wharf and took the car all the way to Union Square, now there was a slight scare on the car, whenever a trolley was coming from the opposite direction if you had broad enough shoulders you could bush up next to the car coming at you, that is if there was someone hanging off the car. I even high five some kid...the ride lasted about 15 minutes. It was a great ride and a nice way to keep some of the history alive.
