Vinegar

Last night was one of the worst nights of sleep in a very long time thanks to a overly tan woman and my sister - TABITHA! Most of you don't know this but I bought into the world of tanning - WHY??? Well the weather was just blowing here and I was longing for some sun and my youngest sister is a tan-a-holic and prommoter of this activity. So I said what is the harm in going a couple times, NOW - everyone knows I don't tan I just burn, peel and freckle. EXCEPT last year I had achieved a decent amount of color training due to my summer tri's. This year I am off to a late start...SO last night we went and prior to going with my sister she said and I quote "YOU HAVE TO BURN TO EARN...", because normally I am only in there about 6 mins - like I said moderation in all things. Well last night her and the pushy overly dark not natural tan lady at the counter said how about 8 minutes? I said sure...what's 2 MORE minutes. Well a couple hours later I started to itch and burn so bad (at 1AM) that I went to the mirror and saw little bumps and splotch's all over my chest and mid-back! I was dieing, so over the night's course I scratched and burned and laid there cursing these two tan people. Finally around 2:45 I got out of bed and got on the Internet to see what could end this misery; the home remedy site said bath in White Vinegar or Milk - well I have soy milk but not enough to do the job. I thought maybe a roommate may have the vinegar - I sure did not, i don't even have sugar or butter. Well I fumbled my way to the pantry and sure enough - EUREKA!!! A roommate had my saving grace. Well for the course of the next 3 hours I got up and rubbed white vinegar on me, (our bathtub does not have a ability to hold water) - sponged for me...the smell reminded me of pickled beets or cooked spinach (My grandma's favorite). I finally got to sleep around 5'ish and woke up late 7:30 and smelled like a cannery. Word to the wise or person desperate for color...never listen to the tan folks when you are not one.

I, too, have learned a few hard lessons after trusting tan people. I'm the sort of person who gets stopped on the beach by complete strangers who want to make sure I'm wearing the sunscreen I so obviously require. Embarrassing, but better than being fried.
