"Hanging Out"
I had the privilege of hearing Elder Richard G. Scott on Friday night. I have to say it was the first time I'd ever been to a Friday night fireside. He spoke on commitment of marriage and how waiting or postponement is not the will of God. I have to say it was very compelling and moving talk (not super easy to listen about); he opened it up for Q & A - which started out very weak people we asking silly questions about asking people out without giving mixed signals...I was going crazy! Here you have general authority and you wast the mans time on questions for Dr. Phil. So next thing I know my hand goes up and I ask him, "How does a valiant, worthy, faithful sister stay faithful and strong in a gospel that is based on families with the uncertainty that you may or may not get married in this life or until the next?" His response was in depth and used a great example, the one and only Sheri Dew he also gave the best definition on what "Hanging Out" is - idleness in flocks...everyone laughed and then paused. After his closing remarks he asked if he could shake every ones hand at the exit. Well he did but when he grabbed your hand he paused and looked you right in the eye...ugh - liked he looked right into your soul. Cool but intense, if I was Catholic I would say it was like the Pope stopping me and having a moment.
