running

Recently I was "convinced" by a younger group of girls (age 25) that I could do a 10-mile run with them on December 4 in Virginia Beach.

Now, I have ran in the past but my body has recently informed me that things are changing.

So, I am trying a mental montage... "Carrie, you rode a 100-miles; sat on a bike for 8.5 hours...you CAN easily run 10-miles in less than 2 hours."

While chanting this multiple times during my runs I have also found another source of comfort/inspiration - purchasing cute athletic gear. NIKE has always been good to me and now it has outfitted me to look like a "runner". I may not be quick, but as I run with these girls I will be the best dress.

I have to say the going out 3 times a week in the AM ranging from 4 to 7 miles per run I am actually starting to get the flow. It also helps to have a rockin' backdrop - the Lincoln, WW2, Washington Monument, and the Capitol...all great things to pass by.

I may write up another update in the weeks to come. Tonight is going to be my first moon-light stroll.

I hate those chants that you have to tell yourself when you run. Why is running so mental? It drives me insane. I do think it is easier when you have a goal in mind. OUr race is the dame weekend. Good luck I know you will do great.

CARRIE! So good to hear from you:). Ah, I miss running. I started it up (some) after I had Maggie but it's been put on hold again for a while. I tell ya, when I started it up again my body responded much differently that when it had 8 years ago. Drats to getting older! I'm glad you're getting into your groove for running again:) You can do it!
