date(s)

Recently I have taken a pro-active approach in my social life. It has paid off in "humorous" ways. I have had the "privilege" of going on a couple dates. The following ones were "set-ups". Now before you start booking the reception hall and settling those bets keep reading...

Ironically they both had the same name...but very different

DATE 1 -
w/ R1...we met up for lunch, we both were coming from different directions, it made the most sense. You could tell he was nervous. The conversation was pleasant and pretty dry. From time to time I would focus on the football game being aired off to the side. During our time together I was trying to figure out how we were compatible...case in point...cat lover (has 2 rescued), loves DVR, enjoys horror flicks, doesn't work-out, one sibling, never travels except to the great lakes area. BUT...he does like football, movies. To sum it up it was like being on a date with my bro-in-law...cordial conversation and super sweet personality. He did pay for lunch.

DATE 2 -
w/R2...we met at a coffee house and WERE suppose to go to a restaurant for dinner. I walked in and first his picture was 7-10 years old vs. who greeted me. Kind of thrown off, then he ended up ordering another tea and got me a beverage as well. NO FOOD!!! He referred to me in 3rd person often and wanted to know why I changed residency recently...was I too good for the suburbs and needed the city lights and RED LIGHT district to entertain me - that's right RED LIGHT, he suggested I needed to be in a prostitution environment. Then for the next 2 hours we had awkward conversations - another gem was when he checked me out so hard that I felt like I should of rebuilt the Berlin Wall to block the stare. Another beautiful moment was when he asked if my job turned me on and if I was married to it for life or would I consider divorcing it soon.Several times I thought it was a PUNK episode. Finally I figured out an escape. I gave a firm handshake so as to prevent any hugs...you all know how I feel about that.

I just have to keep on truckin...one day I will have a prince story, until then these will be my gift to you.

Wow. I laughed while reading #2 - I hope you can laugh about it in retrospect! Just goes to show the famous Black sisters quote is really true: It's either a good time or a good story! :-)
