the game that WAS and WAS NOT great

This weekend was something that I'd been excited for some quite time. The kick-off game for the 2008 UTAH UTES Football season against Michigan (in the BIG HOUSE)! Now I had been wanting to go to this game for sometime. So being confident that I would have a partner in crime I purchased 2 tickets. As time neared my partner in crime changed many faces, so much that in the days prior to the game I had nothing lockedin place. So it looked like the tickets were not going to be used. I tried selling them on eBay and craigslist - but no luck. I contemplated making the 8 hour road trip alone and attend the game being surrounded by fellow UTES but my self confidence and drive we not strong enough.

So Saturday afternoon I drove to a sports bar to meet a colleague who went to Michigan. With tickets in my pocket, I entered the bar and found over 300 Michigan fans and ME - the only UTE fan. My colleague failed to mention that this was where the DC Chapter Michigan Alumni watched all the games. I felt very strange but embraced the event.

Every time UTAH scored I would cheer and being the only voice of good. When the 4th quarter came around I was chewing a straw to death. It was becoming apparent that UTAH was going to win in the BIG HOUSE. When UTAH won I was happy and sad...happy for the "W" sad that I missed out on the "W". Oh well, here's to the beginning of a great season! GO UTES!

That is SO CRAPPY that you didn't get to go in person, but at least your team won. Some consolation, huh?

I freaken hate the fact you didn't get to go. Sorry my husband wanted to give a talk in sacrament and save money for a house. But deep down i know when he was up at that pulpit all he was thinking about was brian johnson and that it would have been an honor to had gone to the game with his favorite sister in law.
