it's just a little rain

Yesterday I had the privilege of building another playground in DC w/ Sirus-XM Radio. It started out a little slow. We had about 250 volunteers on sight and around 1:30 (an hour left) the clouds started to darken and sound of thunder got louder. We saw lighting and immediately had to evacuate the sight...typically the evacuation sight is right next door but this one freakish time it was 3 blocks away. The rain started to come and within minutes down poor and hurricane like wind.

We lost a tent and had a tree collapse next to the registration tent.

I wasn't able to take too many pictures had to round up stray volunteers and make sure they all got to the evacuation site safely. After 35 mins and the clouds clearing up we returned back to the site. Half the volunteer called it a day and the scheduled 2:30 ribbon cutting became a quick 4:30 cutting. Needless to say we didn't have the driest playground but we have another playground for kids to play at forever!
