MRI...

Yesterday I had the experience of getting an MRI and arthrogram (The injection is normally done under a local anesthetic. The radiologist performs the study utilizing fluoroscopy to guide the placement of the needle into the joint and then injects an appropriate quantity of contrast. The physician or technologist then obtains a series of X-rays). Now when the nurse told me this I was OK until getting into my robe it dawned on me that there is only one way to inject...NEEDLE into my hip! Well I walked into the room the doctor had me sign my life away on several documents and then quickly ran through the procedure. I hopped up on the bed the nurse started to prep the area and kept moving my gown. Needless to say I was not ready to give a show to complete strangers but had no choice. My mind was racing with embarrassment and exposure to all present. While talking about Building playgrounds I made the error of glancing over to my hip area and saw a very large needle being prep for launch into my skin. Quickly I glanced back over to the other stranger and focused on being exposed from the waist below and playgrounds.

After finishing this portion of the procedure I stumbled of the bed and waddled to the MRI machine (my one leg felt like it gained 10 extra pounds). I laid down and they taped my feet and legs down. With my eyes closed and trapped in a tube I tried to enjoy the loud blaring machine noises. Thirty minutes later I was out of the tube. Got dressed and waddled to work. My hip still is tender and working out will not happen until tomorrow. GOOD TIMES!

Just thinking about an MRI makes me claustrophobic. Sounds like you did great.
