Tis the season in Salt Lake

Well people say, (actually Dorothy from the Wizard of OZ) "there's no place like home..." I guess you can say that is pretty true when it comes to my family. I had the fortune of spending Christmas with the Fuller's, Meyer's, Wenzbauer's and soon to be Rasmussen's. My trip started out pretty normal lots of hoping around from place to place.

One of my favorite things to do in Utah is visit my dearest college roommate - Vir-GINA-tina (don't ask how the name came about); anyway if I am in town for more then 2days & not working we usually hit the spa. This visit met the criteria and she picked a winner - The Kura Door - AWESOME!!! It is in my old hood - the Avenues; we had a message and spa pedicure...truly delightful. If you are in the area check it out.

The second night in town we had a girls outing - dinner, shopping and lots of laughs. The weather wasn't too kind to us - snow and a dead battery for Jenn. But given those obstacles we managed to enjoy one another and educate my mom in high-end fashion. It was also the night that UTAH came out to beat Navy in the Poinsettia Bowl - go UTES! Who doesn't love QB Brandon Johnson? (Julia - don't answer!)

Friday, let me see...oh yes more running around - trying to get ready for the big day - Santa! That night spent it with Mom and Dad and working on last minute details for snowboarding in Park City.

Saturday - glorious...SNOWBOARDING at the Canyon's - my favorite place. Jason, Melanie, Bubba and I hit the -14F mountain, 6F with the sun shinning. Now Melanie and Bubba had only been 2-3 times several years ago. Jason was instructed to teach and work with them both. Let's just say that lasted 2 bunny hill runs then he dragged Melanie up a nice long blue run - by the bottom of the run she was DONE and so was Jason. She took off to the outlet malls and Bubba did his own trails. Jason and I hit a couple other peaks - the video should give you all a great visual of my skills. By the end of the day couple of bruised knees and egos reminded me that I am still learning the sport. Anyway it was a stunning day and spectacular snow!

That night dinner out and a short but worth while visit with Sister Hexberg - who looks radiant in her 9th month of pregnancy - my family was blown away with how close she was to delivery and how small she appeared. I missed Bro Hexberg - off watching BYU in Vegas (won by a very big prayer).

Sunday - Christmas services at my parents chapel ... nice.

After the service the whole crew had a party at Casa Fuller (minus Wenzbauer's - Cameron came down with croup). We had a love spread of appetizers, gingerbread house competition (two teams) the winner is decided by Chase and Dad. The winner...well that's not important but the artistic skills were not recognized over the traditionalist.

Christmas Eve was a pretty busy day; not being able to see the Wenzbauer's the night before they were able to meet up for lunch. I have to say Brady was a excellent colorer and singer of the ABC's. Cam was pretty tight lipped and latched on to Dad; he still wasn't feeling well.

After the lunch visit Dad and I ditched our other responsibilities and caught a movie before got out of work early. We saw National Treasure 2 - not bad, it entertained us. I think I was most excited that for the two of us it was $11 where as in DC it is $10.50 for one person. After the movie we walked out to a snow storm - which shut down our Christmas Eve tradition of going downtown to see the lights at Temple Square...no lights this year. But I enjoyed spending the time with the family.

Bubba took the longest getting to the house - drove a 2 wheel drive truck and to add weight to the bed of the truck he purchased 4 cases of beverages - the heaviest things in the convenience store. He would return them the next day if he had his receipt (SURE...he would). The temperature was dropping that for them not to explode Dad had to bring them into the garage. (Actually it was all for Santa.)

After that we all settled in for a long night of watching White Christmas and falling asleep to Bing.

Christmas - Santa was pretty good to me I got a lovely cable-knit sweater and scarf just the right size and color...it was as if I went and picked them out myself. As tradition stood all the kids had matching PJ's (thanks - Jenn).

That afternoon I caught a jet plane back to DC - arrived safe and sound.

Merry Christmas to one and all.

I had so much fun hanging out with a few of the Fuller clan. Also, Jared loved the leftovers!!
