This weekend was full of holiday cheer and celebration - the official kickoff to holiday parties and festivities. On Friday I choose to take the evening easy and go to a movie - I really wanted to see something festive and holiday appropriate. After my trip to Target I saw the poster for Fred Clause staring Patty's man Double V; I thought "Yes, this is the one for me!". I purchased my ticket and found a great seat...so I thought, the seat were so stiff and did not recline that 20 minutes into the commercials and previews I said can't do this my back would hate me in 2 hours so I went to the front and asked for my money back. Not to sound old but good posture is important and for $10.25 I want to be comfortable. I got my money and left feeling defeated I realized there was another theater closer to my house and I knew the seats were good. Fred Clause didn't start for another hour, I thought I should just go home and call it a night I determined that I was not going to throw the Santa hat in. Once in the theater I was please with my actions and happy to see that I was the only one in the joint until the previews started. The movie was fair not stellar but it was nice to see Patty's man on the big screen.
Saturday - very busy...if you make a list. I woke up pretty peppy...with two goals in mind buy a pair of boots and clean my house/fireplace. Then I failed to realized I had to make green bean casserole for my church Christmas Dinner that evening. I volunteered with the intention to for me to participate and meet at least a couple people. Then my list grew and thought about Christmas presents - who should I buy for this year...with thoughts going all over the board I decided to table that until mid-week. I took it upon myself to hit the Target ... again and the mall - idiot! Target was fine, the mall...ugh! Parking was a joke but successful in the end and finding boots was good - I wasn't 100% sold but enough to not return them (HUGE!). Left the mall and cleaned the house - parts of it were just driving me batty! Made some good progress and got a couple roommate inspired to do some work as well - one of my favorite sights.
That evening I dragged my roommate to the dinner - good idea. we ended up sitting next to a newly wed couple 3 weeks, they couldn't keep their hands off one another...rightfully so but at the same time the new bride kept talking about her husband being old (30) and almost getting kicked into outer darkness. I laughed to myself and thought she is just killing me softly. After the dinner and a great view of Santa with the droves of kids we headed to a holiday service auction - picked up another roommate (the pretty and social magnet) and we were off to spend money for a good cause. We got there and the place was packed it single people and a list of 45 items from haircuts to benefit ticket to the Smithsonian Gala. They had a professional auctioneer - very entertaining to watch and kept the evening going. I decided to try a win the Gala tickets and tax preparation. My budget was moderate and I thought pretty decent - needless to say I got blown out of the water; tax prep went for $240 and the Gala tickets went for $450. One of my roommates ended up with 4 oil changes for $90 - good buy. At the end of the night they raised $7500 for families in need. GOOD TIMES.
Side note - DON'T ever see "The Whale and The Squid" - terrible, terrible movie.
