This weekend I kicked up my embrace of the holiday season. Friday night a co-worker and I went to this marvelous old hotel The Willard (where lobbying started). It reminded me of the old Hotel Utah now Joseph Smith Building in Salt Lake City.

They had a group of carolers in the lobby singing tune and using a tambourine. The ceilings had paintings of all the United States Seals.

Very joy fully and did I mention costumes...yes mid-evil costumes. After the musical number we took a cold walk over to the Hard Rock Cafe...I know very tourist-like but it was the closest restaurant to the movie theater. After our loud not so great meal we went and saw a great movie "JUNO". Now I don't care for independent moves all that much but the trailer for this film had me moved enough to see it opening night. We sat in a sold out theater. By the end of the movie - which I stayed 100% awake for - that alone speaks volumes. I was pleased and really, truly enjoyed the story. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoyed Little Miss Sunshine or Napoleon Dynamite. It was just corky and heart felt. ENJOY...I know my friend Chad will adore it and rave to all.
Saturday...made a list of things to do since I would be leaving for Utah mid week. I rose pretty early; the price you pay when you wake up early everyday...sleeping in is 7 for me - BLAH! Well after tackling my list I took a short power nap to get ready for the big night - "Festival of Carols" at the Alfred Street Baptist Church. It was awesome a large African American choir sangs gospel and Christmas hymns.

They also retold the story of Christ birth along with dance and a bell choir. Really cool - kind of long, bum started to hurt on the wooden benches. After a lively concert found a new Mexican restaurant - not 100 authentic but good enough to go back.
Yesterday attended my roommates church where she had a Christmas program - very delightful but I did get a little sleepy.

You're really into Xmas, aren't you? I bought my first Xmas tree the other day (actually, it was Grandma's tree) and we decorated last night...
