Saturday we got up nice a early...hit the gym (it's just what we do). Decided that we would see a few museums, visit Harvard, get lost in the city, grab a fancy seafood dinner and dance till the wee hours of the morning.
Our first stop was the countries oldest University...Harvard. It was a lovely campus walking on it made us realize we were amongst the brightest and smartest - who could match their clothes to save their lives. We stumbled upon the main library and really wanted in but they had security and required campus ID. I guess this is a true sign of class separation. After touring Harvard corner we grabbed a bite to eat and then did a little shopping. As we approached the car I saw that the Harvard parking authorities left me a present - $20 parking ticket. I wasn't very happy and didn't feel they really need my money...UGH. After that joyful gift we continued our tour to the Contemporary Museum of Modern Art...great building right on the waterfront - awesome architecture. We sat out on the ledge and truly enjoyed the waterfront and lovely weather. After that we headed toward the Natural Museum of Art and park. We found killer/meter free parking at Northeastern University and realized it was move-in weekend. I haven't seen that many U-hauls in my life and tons of people moving in a small radius. We saw lots of freshman and frat boys - sofas on the sidewalk and tons of IKEA boxes. We continued our walk to the museum to find that it close early on Saturday's - 4:45...why, and why not 5 - random. So we continued onto another park - took some flower pictures and boys playing basketball. From there we walked some more to a very cute art community. A lovely woman saw us with a map - tourist giveaway and she gave some food recommendations. We were walking farther away from the car but weren't too concerned. We stumbled upon her recommendation and realized she was give us the 5 stars joints. Which we were both surprised given upon her attire and missing teeth but she did live in a really nice home, that she walked out from. I guess it goes to show don't judge a book by the cover. We bagged that suggestion, grabbed a cab got back to the car and dressed up for dinner on the waterfront - Anthony's (a famous local seafood place).
Oh Anthony's...what a local gem, the serving staff are all dressed like marinades and have water boys and little old women in maid costumes running around serving hot egg bread rolls. Out waiter - Peter (older gentleman), was not nice or friendly we both asked about certain items and his exact reply "it's fish, what are you expecting?" Then he would give very little smiles and look down at you like a principal. Well the food was good, not great and I had eat not much of my large piece of salmon and Peter came over and gave me a look and commented on how I needed to eat. It was very uncomfortable and Bryan just laugh and caused him to eat his whole plate. I was so concerned Peter would give me grief again, we asked the water boy to clear it before he came back. Well once the check came he was all smiles, lets just say the tip was poor. I felt bad but I didn't like be chastised for my consumption of the meal. After we rushed out we headed over to a dance club got there "early" but had a good time, the music was not great except for 2 sets. Turned in around 3AM...got lost going back to the hotel.
Sunday...well Bryan's mind was set on going to Provincetown, MA (P-Town), a small beach community at the very end of Cap Code. I wasn't all the thrilled because of distance and lack of interest but I got on board and prepared myself for a very, very long day. The drive was good, not at all what I expected until we got just outside the town. Very woodsy and not very sand dune and waterfront. The town was very quaint and lovely. It had lots of charm, cute beach house and very pedestrian friendly. We found rockstar parking - 10hr time limit...I thought it was a typo - LOVED it! We climbed up the historic Pilgrim Monument; just celebrated it's 100 year birthday. After the climb and stunning view from the top w/killer pictures we strolled back down to the center of the town. We walk, walk, walk all over I wore the wrong shoes - got crabby toward the middle of one of Bryan's famous walks (roam without any idea of when our final destination is upon us.) He wanted to go to the beach well except once we arrived it was a marsh and the beach was down the road. Not a clear path and I was just not thrilled about trekking any further. I liked what I saw but was ready to sit and just enjoy the sight. I am pretty sure I ticked off Bryan but my mind was already thinking about the 10 hour drive and it was 3:30pm. We got back to the car and got on the road. We gassed up and had a good ride to Providence, RI; Bryan took over and hit traffic. It was not pleasant until NYC. I took over and drove the rest of the way home. In Baltimore (2AM) our exit was closed so it frustrated me a tad, I was really anxious to get home. Bryan was snoring in the passenger seat. I was finally able to get an alternate route and we got home around 3AM.
The trip was good, the weather was wonderful and the company was a delight. All in all if you ever have a chance to visit Boston or the New England area you won't be disappointed.
