Well a week ago The Slaughters and I felt a little adventurous and take advantage of living around historic sites...so after many discussions we decided to head north and go to Gettysburg. It was a short hour and half car ride to a historic landmark. It was remarkable and delightful, weather couldn't have been better for a day to walk around fields the have large statues and groves of trees.

Tabitha wasn't a huge fan of the day but she and Cad-Man were troopers while Eric and I read the stones, statues and land markings.

After spending about 2 hours there we found a delightful picnic bench and had a picnic. While eating a great peanut butter and honey we heard cannon's go off. It was pretty funny...Cad-Man would giggle like it was the funniest thing ever.

After lunch we got into the car and dragged the main strip of Gettysburg found all kinds of little civil war stores and ma & pop general supply stores.

We decided that we wouldn't shop any of them and head back down the road and hit the ones that we off the main road. We found a local country store and grabbed a couple home-made goodies.

After that Eric found a military surplus store; we decided to let him go in on his own and we hung back and nibbled on our treats. Then just before the highway Eric saw a fireworks depot; of course we needed to stop well lets just say he came back with a couple goodies and he was happy as a kid in a candy store.
The drive back was very uneventful and very scenic vegetation. All in all a very worth while trip and something we can cross of the list of must see things before you die.

Sounds like a fabulous day trip. Say, how about I come visit you in September or so? Mind if I crash with you?
