Another successful trip

Well I was fortunate to go back to the good old LBC over the weekend courtesy of KaBOOM! and Jamba Juice.

First I rolled all weekend in a mini-wan!!! 'Big Pimpin'...I got in Thursday, had some quality time with Grandma. Later that night had a grand dinner with Rick, Jen and baby Aidan (what a doll). Then made it home to spend some more time with Grandma and do some work. That was the reason I was in town - go figure.

Friday, we built a playground in Fullerton, CA it was a bloody hot day 100 degrees with very little or no shade and of course sunblock burns the eyes when it is dripping down your forehead...so another day closer to skin cancer. But none the less I had a very humbling day and at the end of it a playground was left behind for 150+ kids to play on. I was fortunate to have Grandma attend the ribbon cutting and meet a few of my colleagues and of course have a Jamba Juice in the shade.

Later that night I also caught up with the crew at the Boda-Bing restaurant for Patty's surprise birthday party. The theme was gangster living so I believe the picture sums it up. I refer to it as our own Vanity Fair cover-shot of the Soprano's - Mormon style. After dinner we kicked it at the Bostonian Manor for cupcakes and ice cream. It was a delightful time! Patty received a Nerf gun and managed to test it out on a few people...I believe that Dan received the best shot award. Let's just say his family jewels were given special attention.

On Saturday I was able to spend the day with my Bryan. We went to the Huntington Library; of course a first for us both and it was also rather warm but very delightful. My favorite part was when we joined the garden tour; I think it was then I realized I was old because I found it so fascinating and started taking pictures of plant-life. WHO CARES!!! It was a good time.

Later that night Grandma and I went to Mimi's for dinner and the Wal-Mart...our Tuesday night tradition - we just moved it to Saturday night. We ever splurged for desert, she had enough left overs for 3 meals. Then around 10 I spent some time with Wendy watching some interesting Karaoke, I believe Brigham was trying to sing but failed beyond the gong ball.

Sunday, I had to make a B-line to the Swan for a little pedi and then repented by attending church at El Dorado Heights. I felt a little out of it because there were so many new faces. Wendy was just running around taking care of all kinds of items...very amusing to watch. Later back at Grandma's I spent some quality time on her toes and hair...she was in much need and I was willing to address the situation. After the I packed and said good bye. She was kind enough to watch me at the door and said my room was still available if I was ever to come back.

I had a couple hours to kill so I went over to the Manor (it was Meredith's birthday) we just ended up kicking it in her room...within an hour we kick out the boy and it was Meredith, Vanessa, Shaine, Julia and I talking about traveling abroad and silly stuff it was grand. Around 9 Patty came home and we hung out for about 30 mins. I realized that I had to leave if I was going to make my plane...not that I really wanted to but I had things I need to get back too. Said bye to all...

Ahhhhh...LAX I thought no one travelled passed 10pm...boy was I wrong it was slammed with people but I was fortunate to have my boarding pass and not check in any luggage...learned from past experience. I made the flight and slept tell Cleveland; when we deplaned I had no idea what time it was but headed toward my connecting flight. I finally asked the counter agent, "What time zone am I in?" she laughed and set me straight. I got home around 9 and dropped my bags off and went into the office for a 10:30am mtg.

Thanks you all who hung out with me over the weekend...it was good and I'm sure we will do it again soon.
