The Basement

Well my mother has always wanted to see me in something like this and this is probably the only time it will happen. In my house we have a very large basement and we are in the midst of cleaning out all the crap that has piled up. So one of my roommates Jenny found a large garment bag...opened it a found this beauty, a long white gown that has fair young maiden a Billy Idol's "White Wedding". Well we started joking about who it could belong to and none of us could/would claim it. Then we joked about how bad it would look on and next thing you know I am zipping it up and everyone just gasp with laughter and praise. We all determined that I didn't look bad in it; the view really freaked me out and said the only thing I was missing was the groom.
My next thoughts were...should I keep it???? I had visions of being the "Bride of Frankenstein" for Halloween or make tons of alterations for my own big special day...then I thought what kind of nut has a wedding dress in their closet and no boy in the picture. Talk about being overly prepared...I don't think they meant this in Young Women's.

Now that we have photographs and my mother has seen this historic view I thought I would throw my roommate (Heather) under the bus as well. She actually has a better chance of wearing this sooner then me...she has an LDS Missionary coming home in less then 30 days. She definitely has the poses down and the "Someday my Prince will Come" looks. I was highly jealous and knew I couldn't do that look without peeing my pants. Now after playing dress up I determined I would keep it but as a joke and just maybe a back-up. Well I wasn't sure where to keep it so I left it in the entry way. Now here is where the story comes full circle. The following day my roommate is showing a room for rent and one of the girls says, "Hey, this is my prom dress, I didn't know it was still here." We were just dieing inside and told her what we did with it last night. Needless to say she took the precious garment and all of my dreams. Immediately after she left we started questioning who on earth has a prom dress that could be mistaken for a wedding dress.
